Today it rained. We woke up to find it bucketing down – when it rains
here, it really rains. Our plans were to go to Animal Kingdom but we wanted to look
at a few comments of the internet before deciding if it was the right choice. A
few said if it rains then everything is awful, give up and go shopping, and
most said make the most of it, and enjoy it anyway. So we went for it and we’re
really glad we did.
By the time we got there it had stopped raining, but the park didn’t
seem to be very full at all. We never had to wait for any rides and had no
problem getting into the shows.
The highlight is the Kilimanjaro Safari, where we saw elephants (which
Jack was very excited about), lions, hippos, antelope, cheetah and much more. Disney
do things like this brilliantly – it felt like a real safari, but with a bit of
Disney magic thrown in!
Again we enjoyed some fast rides and some great shows (Nemo the Musical
and Festival of the Lion King).
The battery died on the camera by mid-morning which was disappointing
(thank goodness we did the safari first), but as we’d already taken 150+ photos
by then, perhaps that’s a good thing!
By the time we’d had a snack for lunch the heavens opened again, Having
done most of what we wanted to we decided to head home to get dry before going
to a very disappointing shopping area and a very filling all-you-can-eat pizza
place.
