Day 1 – Saturday

That was a long day. Actually, it really was. At 29 hours, one of the longest we’ve ever experienced. And we were awake for 23 of those hours.

If you’re trying to work out the maths, the important facts were:
·         04:00 UK time – alarm goes off
·         04:45 UK time – leave in taxi
·         09:00 UK time – flight leaves Heathrow
·         13.45 US time – flight arrives Atlanta
·         18:15 US time – flight leaves Atlanta
·         19:45 US time – flight arrives Orlando
·         21:30 US time – hire car, get to hotel and collapse into bed.

The flight from Atlanta was 1½ hours late because of the weather in the US. Given we left Heathrow in the snow it never occurred to us that any delay would be because of the weather over here!

And the reason for the 29 hour day? Simple – this part of the US is five hours behind UK time.

It was a very long day, but we’re glad to be here.
